About

Composer, trumpeter, producer, DJ and founder of Gondwana Records, Matthew Halsall has always worn many hats. But at the heart of everything that he does Halsall is first and foremost an artist and a musician. A trumpeter whose soulful playing radiates a thoughtful beauty and a composer and band-leader who has created his own rich sound world of elevating, soulful music, that joins the dots between the spiritual jazz of Pharoah Sanders and Alice Coltrane and the contemporary sounds of Bonobo and The Cinematic Orchestra.

Matthew Halsall and his band perform at the iconic Royal Albert Hall on September 21st. Expect spiritual, progressive, perfectly crafted, mediative jazz sounds for the 21st century as Matthew and his band perform music from their forthcoming album An Ever Changing View together with gems from his back catalogue.

Mathew Halsall trumpet, Matt Cliffe saxophone & flute, Alice Roberts harp, Jasper Green piano, Gavin Barras bass, Alan Taylor drums and Sam Bell percussion. With special guest Chip Wickham saxophone and flute.

“If I could watch any jazz band in the UK, any, I would choose Matthew Halsall’s band, just love what he’s been doing over the last few years… It’s always high level, spiritual jazz music” Gilles Peterson
